Coimbatore: The environmental level and zonal level engineers from Coimbatore Corporation will now work with urban planning section officials to prevent encroachment and to regulate buildings built in violations of rules.
The city planning section is responsible for approving the building plan, set it and clean up encroachment.
This section is a short staff to meet the workload that applies in the city, said the source.
The corporate commissioner King Gopal Sunkara has issued orders.
Has been circulated with city planning officials and engineering officials.
“In addition to the current nature of work, technical officials working at the zonal and environmental level will also work with city planning officials,” said a statement from the corporation.
Corporate officials said that the engineers would act against buildings without permits and buildings that were built in violation of licenses issued by local bodies based on orders issued by civil bodies from time to time.
They will help protect the property belonging to the Civic body including roads, public places, open space reserves in the approved layout and eliminate encroachment, if any.
They will also help identify buildings that have lost stability and bring them down to ensure the safety of life and other properties.
A corporate official said these engineers would visit the building even during the foundation stage to check whether it was being built by following the design approved by the corporation.
Governing the building once they built violating building rules is a difficult task for the Civic body, which also involves litigation.
In addition, property owners can also find themselves in trouble later, he said.
