New Delhi: Department of Income Tax (IT) on Thursday extend the due date for the submission of income tax (ITR) for books 2020-21 to 31 December.
The previous maturity date was extended until September 31 for individuals and until November 30 for the company, especially after the challenges faced by people due to Covid-19 pandemic.
In a tweet, the tax department said: “With the consideration of the difficulties reported by taxpayers in the submission of ITRS & Audit reports for AY 2021-22 under the IT Law, 1961, CBDT further expanded the due date to submit ITRS & Audit reports For AY 21-22.
“Since the launch of a new tax portal, users have complained of repetitive technical disorders.
So far, almost 1.2 Crore returns for the last financial year have been submitted, with more than 76.2 Lakh Taxpayers using a new online portal utility for this purpose, the Direct Tax Council said (CBDT).
