New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday said Jammu & Kashmir had a special place in his heart because he was Kashmir Pandit.
Rahul, who was on a two-day visit to Jammu, said that he felt at home every time he visited the area because of his Kashmir root.
“My family is Kashmir Pandit Family.
A delegation from Kashmir Pandit meets me today.
They say BJP has nothing to do for them while Congress has implemented many welfare schemes for them,” he said.
The former president of the Congress promised that he would do something for “Brother Kashmiri Pandit”.
He said that he himself belonged to the Kashmir Pandit community and felt their pain.
Kashmir Pandit was forced to escape from the Kashmir Valley for Jammu and other countries in the early 90s after the rupture of terror in the region.
Taking an excavation in the central government led by BJP, Gandhi accused that making false promises for Kashmir Pandit migrants.
“A delegation from Kashmir Pandit told me that the promise of giving RS 25 lakh compensation has not been fulfilled yet.
The Congress announced compensation for the Kashmiri Pandit,” he said.
The Congress leader said that every time he came to Jammu and Kashmir he felt at home.
“I have said in Srinagar that every time I come to Jammu and Kashmir I feel that I have returned.
Yesterday, I went to prayer offered at Vaishnodevi Temple (in Relati District) and I felt at home,” he said.
“Jammu and Kashmir, which is the country, but now is Territory Union, has a very long relationship with my family,” Gandhi said.
On August 5, 2019 the center has revoked the special status of Jammu and Kashmir and amboulates to the Territorial Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh.
On the first day of his visit to Jammu on Thursday, Gandhi had paid homage at Vaishno Devi’s cave temple after doing a 13-km leg yatra.
Last month, Gandhi had offered prayers in one of Kashmir Pandit’s biggest temple – Kheerbhawani Temple in Ganderbal Regency in the Kashmir Valley.
This is Gandhi’s second visit for Jammu and Kashmir in the past month, and he has said that he will also go to Ladakh in the coming days.
