Kalyan: The 9-year-old ambernate boy who was kidnapped on Thursday returned with his family on Saturday after the Branch of Police Crime Thane arrested four defendants who demanded RS 40 lakh ransom from Pav Vada’s father.
Parents have filed a complaint at the Shivaji Nagar police station after the boy did not return from the lecture class he attended in the building complex.
Even when the police began investigating the case, Uncle boy received VoIP calls on Friday night from unknown people demanding a ransom.
Meanwhile, the crime branch team scans CCTV recording, where they saw four men moving suspiciously 3-4 three to four days before kidnapping.
The boy’s father identified the people as employees of the sweet shop in the area and said he had known them for 15 years.
On Saturday afternoon, the police stormed the residence of one of the kidnappers, Amjad Khan, in Ambernath and saved the child.
After learning that the other two accused tried to escape towards Igatpuri, the police warned of their rural colleagues and Nashik Thore and managed to arrest them.
Other kidnappers have been identified as Chotu Singh, Yogendra Singh and Sunil Lad, between 30 and 40 years old.
Lad was the last captured.
Ashok moral, the additional commissioner of the police (crime), who led the probe, said, “Our team, together with the city police, has succeeded in arresting the kidnappers.
So far, the probe has revealed the child was kidnapped for ransom.” Laxmikant Patil, Deputy Commissioner Crime Branch, Thane, said the defendant was not educated, but had learned to make VoIP calls on social media because the police faced difficulty tracing the location of the call.
He further said the probe had revealed the kidnappers had moved the child to their three houses to avoid being discovered.
But when Chotu and Yogendra knew the arrest of Khan, they began to escape to their home town in Uttar Pradesh.
His son at home, his father told Tii, “I am very happy that the police safely saved my child.
I never thought the defendant would commit a criminal crime for money.”
