Gurgaon: rebuilding south of the southern edge (SPR) proposed on the image board with the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) which contemplated building a series of flyovers or underpasses at five critical intersections at the stretch of six KM-length between Vatika Chowk and.
Ghata Village, also known as an extension of a golf course.
Authority, officials said, has now floated polls on his website looking for public opinion about two schemes – “cost-effective” kites or “fun aesthetics” underpasses.
On Saturday, Sudhir Rajpal, GMDA Chief Executive Officer (CEO), told TI that the opinions of gurgaon residents would be taken into account before making the last call.
“We want people to give us their feedback on two schemes.
We have floated polls on our website so we can get people’s comments about what kind of upgrade and infrastructure they want,” he said.
One of the busiest stretches in Gurgaon, GCER provides a link with Delhi-Jaipur Expressway, Golf Course Road and Gurgaon-Faridabad Road.
However, intense water holes, often trigger traffic congestion on stretches.
The proposed revamp from GCER aims to ensure signal-free traffic movements and smooth.
Lungi or underpass, said GMDA officials, is likely to appear on the T-Point golf course (Ghata Traffic Light), Junction of Jalan Kadanpur, Pioneer Park Traffic Signal, the intersection near the Splendor Tower, and the intersection in St Xavier Middle School.
.
Authority also plans to develop sidewalks, waterways, cycle tracks, and increase street lighting at the intersection.
According to officials, building flyovers at identified points will cost GMDA around Rs 420 Crore and more “cost effective” than underpass, which will cost around Rs 470 Crore.
Flyover, which they claim, will also need construction time and lower utility shifts, but can block the visual landscape of the area.
Underpass, meanwhile, is expected to be aesthetic sound but can cause higher development and maintenance costs, more time construction, officials said.
Drainage is also a challenge for underpasses, especially during the rainy season, he added.
