Washington: US-trained Afghan pilots and other personnel who fled to Uzbekistan and held in the Uzbek camp for about a month began to leave for the country on Sunday, a pilot told Reuters.
They went under the US agreement that came despite the pressure of the Taliban for the return of pilots and airplanes.
This group at least initially headed to the United Arab Emirates, said the pilot, spoke with the terms of anonymity.
Reuters previously revealed tensions in the Uzbek camp, with Afghanistan pilots afraid to be sent back to Afghanistan and killed by the Taliban.
Taliban said they would not commit a progress for retaliation after winning the control of the country in August.
