Patna: Unlimited strikes by Group-D employees, especially sanitation workers, of all Urban Local Agencies (ULB) in the country enter the sixth day on Sundays as discussions between officials of the Department of Urban Development and Housing (UDHD) and representatives of employees the strike failed again.
People in the city have no choice but to deal with dirty and smelly environments and mosquitoes as a collection of door waste to doors, fogging and maintenance work and other repairs stopped because of strikes.
Although a number of garbage was dumped on the landfill site Ramaya Bariya by workers outsourcing Patna Municipal Corporation, their energy was inadequate to deal with the amount of waste produced per day.
According to sources, more than 6,000 tons of garbage have accumulated in various city areas, including luxury areas such as Boring Road, Bailey Road, Fraser Road, Patliputra, Road Exhibition, Gandhi Majpath and Ashok Rajpath.
On Patna, around 1,200 to 1,400 tons of garbage are produced per day.
The Rajat Chaudhary, a resident of Lodipur, said even the traffic movements had been affected in the area because most of the roads were covered with dirt and garbage.
“We capture the spread of viral diseases in the area.
I have to hire a sanitation worker to dispose of household waste because the trash can overflow,” he added.
HiMani Singh, a resident of Ashiana Colony, said the longer the waste sitting, the more dirty streets.
“All the efforts of the Civic’s body to keep the city clean will be in vain if the strike continues like this.
The state government must take steps to convince an uneasy worker to return to work,” he said.
More than 400 sanitation workers who protested at the PMC head office in the Maurya Lok complex here insisted on the charter request 12 points, including paying the same for the same job, regularization of work, retirement and compassion work.
Chandra Prakash Singh, President of the Union staff of the PMC, said Udhd gave them a verbal banquet.
“We need a written guarantee,” he added.
Kumar’s door, a sanitation worker, said, “We don’t like to make a life of miserable people by protesting like this.
However, we have to raise our voices for our rights.
This time, we don’t throw garbage on the road.
It’s just a peaceful protest.
