Chennai: Tamil Nadu (TNEA) technical acceptance committee on Monday released a list of technical ratings.
Three students – J Nithyasree from Trichy, S Sarvajit Visagan Salem and Sreenithi A from Arani – got first ranked with 200 of 200 cut-off signs.
TNEA released a ranking list for 1,39,033 candidates found to be eligible after the certificate verification.
Among them, 87,291 were male candidates and 51,730 were female candidates.
About 12 transgender candidates will also take part in counseling.
These students will compete for 1.51,870 seats in 440 engineering colleges available for counseling this year.
“Last year, 461 universities participated in counseling and the number had dropped to 440 this year.
So, 21 engineering colleges did not take part in online counseling this year,” said the Higher Education Minister K Ponmudi told reporters on Tuesday.
He further said TNEA would conduct five rounds of counseling to fill the seats that fell emptiness after medical counseling, in the main institution such as the four university campuses Anna.
“Last year, around 700 fell empty on the four Universitas Anna campus after students stopped engineering courses to join medicine,” said Ponmudi as many as 15,660 students from government schools applied to technical counseling.
“According to a 7.5% reservation, 11,390 seats are reserved for government school students.
The head of Minister M K Stalin will provide a rationing letter to 10 candidates from government schools at Anna University on September 18,” Ponmudi added.
Counseling for special categories will be carried out from 15 to 24 September.
Online academic counseling will be carried out from September 27 to October 17.
The TNEA committee received 1,74,930 online applications this year and where 1,45,045 students make payments.
The committee verifies the certificate for 1,42,323 candidates as 2,722 candidates not upload their certificates.
After verification, 3,290 candidates were found not fulfilling the requirements.
