Kolkata: The police arrested eight people early on Tuesday for allegedly operating two fake call centers in a commercial building of Sector V in Salt Lake in Kolkata.
A police officer Bidhannagar City said they had received specific information about two call centers in the same building allegedly deceiving foreigners by posing as representatives of the main software providers and approaching them to solve their problems with their computers or call them to win the lottery online.
The Cyber Crime Police Station Officer first raided the call center number 902 from the Primarc Tower in the DN Block in the Lake Salt V.
“Three officials at the age of twenties were arrested from the office and several computer sets and IP receivers were confiscated along with several data sheets US-based customers, “said an officer.
The police then raided the other office in Jas No.
909 in the same building from where five others were arrested.
Some IP phones, cellphones, computer discs, optical fibers to an Ethernet converter and a large number of data sheets containing the customer database of Washington DC in the US captured from them.
