Corp.’s nod for agents that collect dry waste

Thiruvananthapuram: Corporation City Board Meets here on Tuesday approving the Fixed Health Committee proposal to involve two institutions for dried waste collection in the city.
According to the proposal, the corporation will make money from transportation 14 types of dried waste while having to pay for multi-layer cover, bag, chappal, clothing and waste road.
PET and hard plastic bottles, two main components of non-biodegradable waste in the city, each will take the corporation of Rs 15 and Rs 13 per kilo each.
Color plastic, rubber and coconut shell are other items that the company will receive money from agents for transportation.
The most common plastic waste – milk cover will – Get Rs 13 per kg corporation when carrying a bag will be transported at Rs 7 per kg.
Packaging oil, white plastic cover and paper waste is another type of dry waste now will now make money for collection and transportation.
At the same time, the corporation must spend money on the collection and transportation of clothing, bags and chappals with prices ranging from Rs 5 to 8 per kg.
Road waste will be transported at a cost of 7.5 per kg.

The BJP Board of Anil Kumar alleged collection of dried waste in the city is always driven on charges of corruption and that these agents deceive corporations and cheat money from the civil body.

He said that because of covid-induced locking, waste transportation was affected and that dried waste was stacked in the resource recovery center.

He said they had facilities in Tirunelveli and Nagercil and that he did not know any type of waste transportation prohibition to Tamil Nadu, referring to the comments of the BJP board members that there were restrictions on waste transportation to neighboring countries.
Unlike previous years, City Corporation received quotes from two companies for around 18 types of dried waste this time.
