Mumbai: Some dozen health workers, some politicians and staff they all took the third dose of the Covid-19 vaccine in the city over the past few weeks, have learned.
Booster’s shot even though offered in several western countries, it remains a subject that is debated warmly.
The center said on Thursday that it was not a priority, indicating that the decision about the third dose might not occur soon.
Some sources have confirmed to TOI that health workers have taken third shots in various hospitals, either without registration on co-win or by using a different telephone number.
Many are believed to have a filtered antibody level before taking it.
A senior doctor told Tii, “This list includes doctors, especially those who finished taking their doses in February and found a thinning at their antibody level while checking”.
A young politician, couple and staff members also learned to take the Booster Jab.
Covishield has become an option for a booster dose, a hospital source said, adding that in some cases the eleventh dose has been taken from vaccine vaccines for that purpose.
The head of another hospital said in another case, the third dose was taken from a bottle that might have some of the remaining doses but did not have a taker at the end of the day immunization drive.
“Health workers have seen a breakthrough infection between colleagues and worried about the variant that appears,” he said.
However, Dr.
Pradeep Vyas, an additional principal (health), call it wrong enthusiasm, by saying the third dose can cause a life-threatening reaction in some cases.
“Let’s be scientific and not driven by emotions,” he said.
Suresh Kakani, an additional municipal commissioner, said, “It is possible that the extra dose in each bottle is being used for this.
If someone uses the extra dose, there is no need for registration.
But my question to those who take it is how they know it’s useful at all, “He said.
