Wild tusker stepping on farmers to death

Coimbatore: A 63-year-old farmer was trampled on to death by wild elephants on his farm near Boluvampatti here in early Friday.
A forest officer identified the deceased like R Chinnasamy, a resident of Viraliyur Village.
“He used to live back on his farm, which is located near the hill, at night to protect the plant from a wild animal attack.
He has set up a room to stay the night and stored there.
About 1:30 a.m.
on Friday, he woke up hearing the sound.
When he came out of the room, he saw wild tusker and began to run.
However, Tusker chased him and attacked him.
He suffered an injury to his chest and his right leg.
“When told, the front line staff with the Boluvampatti forest rushed to the place and took Chinnasamy to the hospital The government in Thonbamuthur, where the doctor declared him dead on arrival.
Then, the body was sent to Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital for postmortem.
The Ministry of Forestry has handed over the Direct Solation of Rs 50,000 to the families of the elephant attack victims.
The rest of the RS 3.5 Lakh will be submitted to the family soon.
