Mumbai: Veermata Jijabai Bhosale Udyan and the zoo, known as byculla zoo, have a plan to get two pairs of zebras from the Ramat Park bro safari in Israel.
This is to give an exchange of asiatic lions which will be taken from the Sakkarbaug Zoological Park in Junagadh and Kamla Nehru Prani Sangrahalaya on Indore.
Officials said that a consultant had been appointed last year to decide on the availability of zebra that could be given in return for the lion.
At present, approval is being sought from CZA to get animals from foreign zoos under an animal exchange program.
A senior zoo official said, “The designated consultant has confirmed the availability of zebra at the zebro in Israel.
Based on that we have submitted a request to the Central Zoo Authority (CZA).
After the same thing is received, the next process will begin with a foreign zoo .
“Zebra Zoo purchased as Gujarat, where the lion Eurasian must be taken, have been looking for a pair of zebra and XThe Byculla Zoo does not have the same thing.
Officials from the zoo said that they were their exotic facilities at Byculla Zoo ready, they also planned to bring Zebra to the Mumbai Zoo.
The last animal entered the zoo in February 2019 – two Royal Bengal Tigers named Shakti and Karishma were taken to the Byculla Zoo from Taman Siddharth and the Zoo in the city of Aurangabad Maharashtra.
In return for byculla zoos, authorities give the Siddharth Zoo two men and two female speckled deer.
Tiger Shakti was born in November 2016 while Tigress Karishma was born in July 2014.
The zoo is currently closed to the public than the concern of the third wave of Covid-19.
Last week, the zoo was in the news of the birth of two penguin humboldt chicks, one of them was born in May and the other in August.
The same was officially stated last week by Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar.
One chickpaper is a man named Oreo while the sex of others is unknown.
