Kolkata: Hidco plans to rent space under the Axis Mall flyover in a new city to agency to operate a small restaurant and several food stalls.
It will run along with the proposed pedestrian zone that HidCo plans to stretch under the flyover that connects the Axis Mall to Central Mall.
Officials said this would help in the utilization of the right space and prevent encroachment.
“The plan is to create a community space under the flyover.
The aim is not only to utilize space and prevent encroachment, but also help in the generation of employment, especially for food giving personnel, and increase the scope for income income for the authorities,” said an Hidco official .
Hidco has begun to invite applications from agencies and plan to hold auction early next month to rent space based on monthly license fees.
Officials said the plan was to develop the road to a beautiful pedestrian zone, which would have street food square, recreational zone, seating arrangement, public art, tree plantations and other decorative structures that would bring fresh, clean and green look for that .

Hidco sector has explored options for the use of the right space in the bag, such as under kites and in the subway.
