Shirdi: Police in the Ahmednagar Maharashtra district have arrested six people because they allegedly slandered the Chair and member of the Shri Saibaba Committee Sanshan Trust (SSST) by sharing CCTV footage from their inspection at the Temple in Shirdi and continuing it as Covid-19 violations, said an official on Wednesday .
According to the police, the defendant had shared photos, CCTV recordings, and content about the administrative visit of the chairman and committee to the temple with Youtube media channels and tried to forward it as a violation of Covid-19.
The main district and Judge Ahmednagar’s session were the chairman of the Temple Committee, while the assistant Commissioner Amal was a member of the trust.
The police on Tuesday arrested Rajendra Jagtap, an administrative officer from Temple Trust, Vinod Kote, was responsible for the CCTV department, the Chailak Sables Trust Temple, Ajit Jagtap, a carrier of the Societ office and Sachin Gavhane and Sachin Gavane.
Rahul Funde, both part-time employee trust, said the official.
The case has been registered with the defendant under Section 501 (printing problems or carvings that are known to be slanderous), 408 (criminal violations of trust by officers or servants) and other relevant provisions from IPC, information technology law, he said.
The Chairperson of the Trust Committee and members have visited the temple for inspections on July 31, he said.
“The defendant shared several CCTV photos and photographs of the chairman and members of the inspection near Saibaba Samadhi Mandir with several YouTube portal journalists and graduated visits as a violation of Covid-19,” the official said.
By sharing CCTV photos and recordings, the defendant has spread misleading content and slander alken alleged that the temporary temple has been closed for ordinary people because of the Pandemic, the Chair and member of the Trust Committee was allowed to enter the temple for ‘Darshan’, he said.
The defendant was produced in front of the court, who had returned them to police custody until September 25.
