Pune: Senior Congress leader and party group leader at the Legislative Council of Maharashtra Sharad Ranpise died in a private hospital in Pune on Thursday, said source.
Ranpise (71) has experienced a heart attack a few days ago and underwent treatment at a private hospital, said a party leader.
“Demaris the leader of the senior Congress and the leader of the legislative council group, Sharad Ranapape, has taken severe casualties in the Congress Party, who has lost his diligent personality.
A sincere award to him,” Maharashtra Congress said in a tweet.

He is the leader of the MLC group and Congress in the state legislative council.
Overcoming Ranpise’s death, chairman of the minister of Uddhav Thackeray said the country had lost legislative members who were both well-read.
“Ranpise stands firm in political and social ideology.
He articulated his view effectively,” Thackeray said in a condolences, adding that death had created a vacancy.
Congress leader and State Revenue Minister Ballasaheb Thorat said sadness over Ranpise’s death and said the party had lost a leader who had an extraordinary faith and commitment to the ideology of Congress.
Deputy Chief of Minister Ajit Pawar also spent the death of the Congress leader.
