Mumbai: Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) of the habit at the International Terminal of Chhatrapati Shivaji on Thursday arrested the National Zambia with 3.5 Kg Heroin worth Rs 18 Crore.
The woman accused of 40 years old, Queency Chilute, Sakeli, has been ordered under the NDPS law and returned to detention.
Sakeli traveled from Zambia through Addis Ababa to Mumbai arrested after looking for his luggage resulted in recovery of 3.6 kg of hidden heroin in the bag.
Sakeli was the fifth woman who was arrested by AIU in the past week with contraband goods.
Contraband will be sent to the contact in Delhi.
Officials suspect that heroin is smuggled in these cases intended for European countries using India as a transit route.
They suspected that after the Taliban controlled Afghanistan, smugglers looked for other routes.
Contraband will be sent by India which is hidden in a container which is declared carrying original items.
On Wednesday, AIU had arrested Annie Kuchete and her legs Vaidya could, held a passport of the Republic of Malawi, who arrived from Doha with 5kg heroin worth Rs 25 Crore.
