Thiruvananthapuram: With Covid-19 cases down in Kerala and more than 90 percent of the targeted population have been given the first dose of vaccines, the state government on Saturday relieves restrictions and decides to open restaurants and bars for motorists.
Chairman of Pinarayi Vijayan, who spoke to reporters after a high-level Covid-19 evaluation meeting, said the indoor stage and swimming pool could function with staff who were fully vaccinated.
He said the government had decided to facilitate restrictions because more than 90 percent of the targeted population had been given with the first dose of vaccines.
“There is an eight percent reduction in active cases when compared to last week.
A total of 3,50,12,467 people have been given a vaccine until now.
From this, 2,44,71,319 was given the first dose of 1.05.41.148 both doses,” Vijayan said.
He said there were only 22 lakh people who had not received the first dose.
“In the current scenario, there is no need to continue restrictions forced on eating facilities at the restaurant,” Vijayan said.
He told those who had taken both doses to take advantage of eating facilities in the house and bar.
“Only 50 percent of the restaurant seating capacity and bar that must be used.
All staff must be fully vaccinated and AC should not be used and doors and windows must remain open,” Vijayan said.
The state government has issued orders in this case that says that restrictions entering into companies may not apply to those under the age of 18 because they do not qualify for current vaccination.
Kerala reported 16,671 new Covid-19 cases and 120 deaths on Saturday, took infection counted to 46.13,964 and the death toll became 24,248.
