Mumbai: HDFC Bank, the largest private sector lender in the country, on Sunday said he aims to double his country’s range to two Lakh villages, who will see him to rent 2,500 in the next six months.
The city based bank also said it aims to double its presence in the next 18-24 months through a combination of branch networks, business correspondents, business facilitators, CSC (Public Service Center), virtual relationship management and digital outreach platforms.
Previously on that day, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had voiced disappointment over the reach of banking and asked the lenders to do more.
HDFC Bank said that after expansion, bank reach will increase into a third of villages in this country.
“Indian rural and semi-urban markets are not served in credit extensions.
They present a continuous long-term growth opportunity for the Indian banking system,” said the head of the group (commercial and rural) said Rahul Shukla.
Shukla said that advanced, her dream was to make its services available at each country pincode.
At present, the Bank offers its products and services to small businesses in more than 550 districts and is a leader in the extension of banking services to micro, small and medium enterprises, the statement said.
