New Delhi: Army continues with a strong combat posture throughout the entire border with China, which includes high volume artillery shooting rifles from 105mm longer, bofors and rocket systems to hit Ultra-777 Howitzers, in the middle middle.
There are no signs of de-escalation in East Ladakh.
The M-777 Howitzers can be flown from one sector to another in advanced areas with chinook helicopters, while cruise mobilization of heavier artillery weapons has been made possible by roads built by border road organizations (bro) over the past few years.
“When bro further takes the road network going forward, we will be able to use our weapons in more locations,” said Director General (Artillery) LT-General T K Chawla, a day in front of the Gunners day on Tuesday.
The Army also evaluates whether the new self-propelled tracker weapon is K-9 Vajra, which is obtained for surgery in the plains and desert, can be effectively deployed in high altitude regions, he added.
The power has shot 100 of the 155mm / 52-caliber K-9 weapons, which has a range of 28-38-km, under the project with RS 4,366 L & T and the South Korean Hanwha defense.
“We also check whether more K-9 weapons are needed,” said LT-Gen Chawla.
As for the Howitzers M-777, mainly intended for China’s front, about half of the 145 weapons ordered for more than RS 5,000 Crore from the US has been delivered so far.
With a 30-km strike range, three M-777 regiments have been deployed along the actual control line with China.
However, there was slow progress in two original original artillery weapons, both of which faced problems during the trial.
The first is 155mm / 45-caliber Dhanush Howitzers, an electronically enhanced version of the original Bofors weapon.
The army previously placed orders for this 114 weapon for RS 1,260 Crore from the Armament Factory Board (OFB).
The second is the 155mm / 52 Calible Advanced Artillery Gun Systems (Atagans), which Drdo argues is the best in its class in the world with a strike range of 48 km.
The army needs as many as 1,580 weapons like that.
“Many gripes have been made by the Army, both for Atags and Dhanush.
We want customary efforts to succeed.
There are main advantages in having a custom system and does not depend on foreign technology,” said LT-Gen Chawla.
After “constructive discussion” with Of and Drdo, senior officer said he was “optimistic” that “certain parameters were not achieved” during the atags and “some dental problems” with Dhanush will be resolved soon.
“We want strong weapons.
Weapons that can shoot accurately, consistently and with high reliability levels according to the parameters set,” he said.
