2.5km-long path between pedestrian path and the service path is set to get revamp.
“The work has begun and two fountains are arranged.
We plan to complete the project in a month,” said a senior Chennai Corporation official.
The RS 23.5 Lakh project involves six solar shades with creepers and five fountains.
One of the fountains has been installed behind the statue of Gandhi.
Changes, carried out by road contractors, not only for aesthetics, an official said because this installation would help improve the micro-regional climate, especially for pedestrians.
It all started when the corporate commissioner asked the official withered flowers and almost dead plants on the lawn.
In inspection, the civil body found hundreds of mice made their lawn and destroyed plants.
There are 12 courts and sculptures installed on four lines opposite 1, 4, 7 and 11 along Kamarajar Salai.
“Apart from beautifying the lawn, the fountains will be set at five.
The lights will be affixed to the fountain and the statue so that the place will not be a dark place,” said an official.
The fountain will have a steel tissue to prevent vandalism and the nuances of the sun will be placed for 50m every 500m.
CREEPERS will be managed regularly as the page.
The fountain will be refilled every time it is needed and the page will be maintained using the existing sprinklers and with water from the well near the Subway Reserve Bank.
