Mumbai: Maharashtra will get 2.2 doses of crore vaccine this month from the center, said Health Minister Rajesh Tope on Saturday.
He said it would be the highest allocation received in more than eight months since the start of the vaccination and state program will aim for 15 lakh vaccination a day.
BMC officials also said that they had new shares to do high voter drives for another week.
“We have got 2.5 lakh doses of covishield and 80,000 covaxin doses.
This will help us vaccinate in one lakh each in the first three to four days of the week,” said the Supplementary City Commissioner of Suresh Kakani.
Over the past three months, the state has demanded three doses of crore to accelerate vaccination.
So far the country has discussed 8.27 crore receivers.
Of these, 5.81 Crore has received the first dose and 2.46 crores, both doses.
Nearly 30% of the population is fully vaccinated in the state.
In the city, Saturday only saw 1.04 lakh people who took vaccines, against 1.39 lakh to 1.5 lakh on weekdays from September 27 to October 1.
While voters for vaccines are usually the highest on Saturday in Mumbai, October 2 is exception.
In September, the highest monthly vaccine dose (29.5 lakh) was given in Mumbai.
“From this, 20 lakh is in the center of public vaccination.
We hope to do better in October,” Kakani said.
Tope said that in all state states had increased vaccination last month and hoped to increase it further.
“The country has completed two doses of two crore mid months ago and even touched 15 lakh vaccinations in the early day of September.
With more doses allocated, we aim to have this as a target,” Minister said.
He said that in video conferencing with the center he had been grateful for allocating more doses to this state.
Ahead of the celebration, intensifying vaccination is key.
The state has even issued assembly resolution to demand three doses of crore.
The Secretary of the Additional Chief (Health) of Dr.
Pradeep Vyas said the center had allocated 1.8 covishield doses and 39.74 lakh covaxin doses for October for the 9.14 target population of crore receivers in the state.
