Coimbatore: The police have arrested two people, who kidnapped a five-month-old girl from Anamalai on Tuesday night, and the man who bought it from the duo for RS 90,000.
The baby was saved on Thursday, the police said.
They identified the kidnappers as R Ramar, 45, from Angalakurichi and M Murucesan, 29, from Sethumans, who worked as a wall painter.
While Ramar did not have a criminal note before, Murucan was involved in the case of theft.
M Muthupandi, 51, from Angalakurichi, has bought a girl from the duo, Deputy Coimbasore Deputy Inspector General (excavation) Police Muthusamy said on Friday.
“Muthupandi works as a manager of the Pith Coir unit and has no children for the past 20 years.
He wants to kidnap a child and recently approached Ramar, looking for his help,” the officer said.
Ramar and Murucesan kidnapped Sangeeetha and Manikandan children from Mysore.
“The couple had reached anamalai to buy used clothes and lived in an emergency tent with their children.
On Tuesday night, when Manikandan left, Ramar and Murugesan approached Sangeeetha and bidding his money to buy it.
They left the place when he refused, but approached him Again to offer Rs 50 to buy Chilli Chicken for his children.
When Sangeetha goes to the store leaving the baby with his daughter, the duo seizes the baby and runs away from that place.
We saved him from Muthupandi’s house, “Muthusamy said.
Selvanagarathinam police supervisor has formed eight teams led by Valparai DSP Sevenivasan to solve this case.
The team collected CCTV footage to capture the perpetrators.
Muthusamy gives cash prizes and certificates to personnel.
