BHUBANESWAR: Since the vaccine residues of Odisha stands in a phenomenal -4percent despite its own short distribution, the Puri district government has vaccinated nearly 50 percent of their target population from the 18-44 age class at the municipality region in a week.
The vaccination of the 18-44 year age class began in Puri on May 24.
The district government had recognized 74,000 beneficiaries from the 18-44 year age-group for inoculation from Puri city .
Its overall population is about 2.
01 lakh.
“Approximately 35,000 men and women in the 18-44 age group were vaccinated in Puri city in the previous seven days, that will be approximately 50 percent of their target population in this age class from town.
Superb work with health and municipality personnel,” tweeted Puri district collector Samarth Verma on Sunday.
The government explained the 35,000 vaccinated men from the 18-44 age group comprised approximately 1,500 servitors of the Jagannath Temple.
Altogether 4,318 servitors from the stated age group could be addressed throughout the inoculation drive before Rath Yatra on July 12.
The quicker rate of vandalism has drained the vaccine inventory for its 18-44 year age category in Puri.
“We’re left without a vaccine today for your 18-44 year age category.
We’re hopeful of finding the vaccine in the authorities in the very first week of June,” Verma said.
The government has, Thus Far, began the vaccination of their 18-44 age group at five municipal company areas of Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Berhampur, Sambalpur and Rourkela and in Khurda, Puri, Bargarh, Bhawanipatna, Koraput, Nabarangpur and Keonjhar.
