Kolkata: City airport authorities looking for paint and professional mouse catchers to get a free terminal from mice and cats after part of the false ceiling and accompanying aluminum cladding falls on Tuesday, surprising the airline and narrow crew.
Aluminum cladding that falls beside the toilet entrance at the departure terminal also drops cats.
Internal demand shows the animal is there because of mice, which causes the focus of mouse problems at the airport.
The airport authority has decided to rent NGOs to move cats and government pest control agencies to destroy mice.
Photos taken from Twitter cats at Kolkata Airport “Tikus infestations have been a problem with Kolkata Airport.
We have asked the central warehousing company responsible for mouse control and pest control at the airport to see this problem,” said Airport Director C Pattabhi.
A airport official said most rats were hiding in fake ceilings, electric panels, hangars and apron area.
In January last year, a mouse on Indian airplanes that was bound by Dehradun from Kolkata had forced airlines to cancel the trip in Varanasi, remove passengers and accommodate them at the hotel for 24 hours because the staff looked for mice.
After the incident on Tuesday, Twitter associated with a pole on the cat’s observation in the terminal.
Twitter users posted a video of a seven seconds cat sitting comfortably on the bench at the airport cafeteria.
Last year, several Twitter users have posted different photos roaming in certain parts of the terminal.
“I have often seen them, but they are mostly harmless, sit or quietly walk around,” said Sutirtha Basu, Frequent Flyer.
“Cats come here looking for mice and food leftovers.
We have asked for an animal welfare NGO to help us capture and move them,” said Pattabhi.
Toi contacted one of the animal welfare NGOs previously contacted by Kolkata Airport with similar requests.
“It really doesn’t move harmless animals, such as cats or dogs.
The previous airport authority asked us to move them, but we had notified them that we could only sterilize animals.
After this, they did not contact us again,” said Lopamudra Basu, Secretary, Pashupati Animal Welfare Society (PAW) in Dum Dum.
