Bhubaneswar: Bhubaneswar Station will be built in Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode.
The train coordinates with the Development Authority of Bhubaneswar (BDA) and a shared plan is being worked on.
Chairman of the Railway and Chief Executive Officer of the Railway Ministry Sunet Sharma said this on Sunday during a one-day visit to Bhubaneswar.
Sharma examined the Bhubaneswar train station and reviewed projects that were ongoing in this region with East Coast Railway (ECOR) officials.
“Actions are being taken to complete the earliest station rebuilding project.
One platform and two rail lines will be added to this project,” he added.
He said the Bhubaneswar station would be developed as a world class station.
Plans for rebuilding Bhubaneswar station has been carried out.
Rail land development authority (RLDA) will carry out railroad work and the rest of the work will be carried out by BDA, he added.
In addition, the new train station Bhubaneswar is being developed as a satellite terminal station from the main station Bhubaneswar.
During the station inspection, Sharma said that some facilities have been developed and the train focuses on the development of circulating areas, concapours, platforms, lighting, waiting rooms, toilets, and lifts that have been recently added for the benefit of passengers.
Some ongoing train projects from the country have national interests.
“Funds are not a problem for any project.
We have support from the state government in the field of land acquisition for the train project,” Sharma said.
He said the train ran around 1,700 trains per day throughout the country.
Generally short-distance passenger trains (local trains) get a heavy crowd, but we have restored many trains like that after discussing with the state government.
All trains will be run within three months, he added.
The chairman of the train review the ongoing train project from Ecor with the General Manager of Vidya Bhushan, all major department heads, senior officials and Division train managers (DRMS) at the Ecor headquarters here.
In August, Ecor wanted to withdraw from a memorandum of understanding signed with the Odisha government to develop the Bhubaneswar train station to multi-capital hub, citing delays in the project implementation by BDA.
Instead, ECOR has suggested a revised pact so that it can complete work related to the station, stuck because of an agreement.
