Hyderabad: More and more people (between 35 and 45) in the city are diagnosed with osteoarthritis, say doctors.
While people in this age group previously contributed nearly 5-6 percent of the overall case of osteoarthritis, they are now accounting for 20-25 percent of the current case now.
This weakening problem, starts earlier in life, reduces the quality of life drastically by limiting a person’s movements, besides causing severe pain and swollen.
“Osteoarthritis is joint degeneration.
Osteoarthritis affects various body joints, including knees, hips and hands.
This condition is progressive,” said Dr.
Sai Laxman Anne, head of the orthopedic surgery department, KimS Kondapur.
Dr.
Sai Laxman said that the number of young people who were very high with stage degeneration-2 walked to the current OPD.
“Sitting work, lack of practice, weight gain and low sun exposure is the main reason for osteoarthritis among young people,” he said.
The best is not to avoid joint pain if they begin to influence the way one goes or limit normal activity.
In such cases, seeking immediate assistance is important, say specialists.
“It happens when the cartilage in the joints starts to be damaged.
In young people, the old injury is ignored often it is the reason but at this time we see many cases among people who are only 30 years old.
Junk food and fried food are rich in oxidants and dangerous For cartilage.
Also, obesity is a high risk factor for osteoarthritis, “said Dr.
Saketh Kolla, replacement with regenerative orthopedic consultants and surgery, Gleneagles Global Hospital.
Although previously, osteoarthritis appeared among the people in the age group 55-60, but this has changed lately.
“While osteoarthritis cannot be reversed at the next stage, if it is detected early, it can be controlled by drugs, physiotherapy, vulnerable supplements and lifestyle changes.
The development of the disease can be stopped,” said Dr.
Kaushik Reddy, consultant orthopedic surgeon, Apollo Hospitals.
Dr.
Kaushik said he found at least 10 patients in his 30s every month.
“These numbers only increase.
We also see many cases of arthritis patella-femoral, which is inflammation on the knee cover, among younger patients,” he said.
He connects this with obesity.
“In such cases, arterial knee pain is seen.
Even though they may not have pain while walking, pain feels when squatting or using stairs,” he explained.
