Gurugram: With Navratri in the corner, some clothes under Samyukta Hindu banner Sangharsh Samiti (SHSS) have written to the deputy commissioner who is looking for instructions to close all meat shops in the city for nine days of celebration.
Clothing has also searched for a “permanent ban” on all “illegal” meat shops.
“We have protested this for the past four years.
There are 150 meat shops registered in Gurugram.
But there are thousands of stores that run illegally.
We have written to the deputy commissioner who is looking for their permanent closure,” said Rajeev Mittal, who identified himself as a repemer Talk to SHSS.
The group claims to have 24 clothes as members.
Mittal added that they had been looking for clues to close all meat shops in the city during Navratri which began on Thursday.
“In the past, there were examples when administration failed to close the meat shop during celebrations and arguments broke out between different groups because of that,” he thought.
The group also raised the “concern” on Namaz offered in the public room which said it caused “discomfort” to people in his memorandum to the deputy commissioner on Monday.
Gurugram police have pointed to the site for Namaz after several clothes in the past trying to disturb Friday prayers in the city.
Meat shop operators said their business had suffered huge losses since 2020 and closing stores for almost 10 days would only add to the problem.
“Closing any store means a big loss for the owner.
Since last year, our business has suffered a lot.
If we close our shops for several days now, it will only affect us more,” said Pritam Bhagat, owner of the meat shop.
Over the past few years, many meat shops in the city are still closed during Navratri.
