Letter: The contest for parliamentary seats Dadra and Nagar Haveli (DNH) in the Union Diu Daman and DNH (DDDNH) region became stunning with Kalaben Delkar, the final wife of seven times MSP Mohan Delkar announced his nomination at Sena Shiv tickets on Thursday.
The 50-year-old Kalaben will fight for the election for the first time.
On Thursday, Kalaben and his son Abhinaav, along with supporters met Uddhav Thackeray in Mumbai before his name was stated.
“We have approached Shiv Sena for support and after discussion, the party has agreed to declare my mother as their candidate,” Abhinaav told Toi.
“I will work for people with the same enthusiasm as my husband.
I will continue the development work in DNH as I was dreamed of by my husband,” Kalaben said, which is a scholar in art (BA).
Delkar was the strongest tribal leader who won the election of various parties and also as an independent candidate.
He might be the only leader from UT which was contested from BJP, Congress and Won.
Seven times MP from Dnh Delkar has died of suicide at a Mumbai hotel in February this year.
His death had swept the ranks in the political circle.
The Constituency of DNH Lok Sabha remains an important seat for all the top political parties.
At present, the former minister in the Government of Narendra Modi in Gujarat, Pressur Patel is the UT administrator.
This will be the first election for parliamentary seats after the unification of DIU, Daman and DNH as one UT, which now has two parliamentary seats.
Meanwhile, BJP announced Mahesh Gavit (44) as their candidate from the DNH seat on Thursday.
Gavit was previously a sub-inspector in Indian reserve battalion and has resigned in 2014 to join politics.
He served as an office carrier at a party and fight for the first time in parliamentary elections.
