Thiruvananthapuram / Kozhikode: Apparently broke the whip against the insulation, the BJP Central Leadership dropped the unsatisfied leader Sobha Surendran and Veteran O Rajagopal from the National Executive Party on Thursday.
Minister of Union V and former State President of the Kummanam Party Rajasekharan are the only full-time members of the new national executives dissolved in New Delhi from the Kerala unit.
Abdulla Kutty and Tom surrendered had found a place in the committee based on becoming a national vice president and their respective national interpreters.
The Kerala unit has four members in the executive out.
Apart from V Muraleedharan, another member is O Rajagopal, P K Krishnadas and Sobha Surendran.
Krishnadas, who had been pitted against Muraleedharan in the struggle for supremacy in the state unit, was previously appointed as chairman of the train passenger facilities committee.
Even though he would no longer be a member of the National Executive, along with Metroman e Sreedharan, he has been appointed as a special invitation to the executive.
The central leadership has dropped Alphons Kannanthanam also from the executive.
The elimination of Sobha from National Executives is generally mentioned as a strong warning for leaders who dare to challenge party leadership openly and are involved in the lobby for positions.
However, leaders who were not in the circle near the Minister of Union and former state president Muraleedharan viewed Ouster Sobha from the executive as his offer to tighten his grip on the state unit.
Although the Sobha camp seemed annoyed, both he and his loyalist officially reacted to development.
Sobha appeared as a rebel sound in the state unit after Krishnadas chose not to be part of the open power struggle.
Although there was no formal justification for the removal of Rajagopal from the Executive Board, some of the comments he made about the prospect of Kummanam in the assembly poll did not go down well with state leadership and the center.
National Executive Reconstitution shows that the State Party K Surendran continues to enjoy the protection and trust of the central leadership.
