Gurgaon: Some Sector 102 residents have raised concerns about a collection of water which stagnates in the empty fields in the area.
Pools have become a breeding place for mosquitoes and causing health hazards for people who live around them, they said.
They demand anti-larval and fogging drives in the area.
Residents say rainwater and excess water from waste treatment plants (STP) have accumulated in empty plots.
The lack of drainage networks and authority ignoring regional maintenance has added problems, they accuse.
“With the absence of adequate civil infrastructure, rainwater has flowed to several plots for the past few weeks.
Personal tankers also dispose of wastewater treated here regularly,” said Kaptes Rakesh Kumar (Retd), a resident of Oyster Grande.
Some residents accused even though there were several complaints, the authorities concerned did not pay attention to their problems.
Dr.
Rao Parikshit, a resident of Gurgaon Greens, said: “We have raised this problem on social media and other platforms, but nothing has been done so far.” He added, “With the number of cases of dengue fever, malaria and chikungunya, the authorities need to be proactive before the outbreaks occur.
Regular fogging is needed because it is possible to spread the disease transmitted through high vectors.
More than 3,000 families live here in some housing communities.” When approached , Haromic Attri, Commissioner with corporate city of Gurgaon, said they had prepared a schedule for fogging encouragement in all zones.
“I will also ask the official worried about seeing problems and ensuring fogging in the area.
One can file a complaint at Helpline 18001801817,” he said.
Meanwhile, officials from the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) said that the transfer of drainage networks and sewerage in the area was not finished.
“We have accelerated the problem with the authorities concerned,” said an officer.
