New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Manoj Tiwari was injured while protesting the rejection of the Puja Chhath near the residence of the Head of Delhi Kejriwal on Tuesday afternoon and rushed to the Emergency Wing of the Safdarjung Hospital.
Tiwari led a protest from a group of BJP leaders, including Delhi President BJP Adesh Gupta, on request to revoke the ban on the festival.
The area near the cm residence was barricled by Delhi police to prevent them from marching home cm.
Tiwari rose at the barricade when the police used Water Canon to dissolve the protesters who hit Tiwari.
Tiwari fell and hurt.
Manoj Tiwari has been received in the Emergency Ward Hospital Safdarjung.
“He has been received in the Emergency Ward of the Safdarjung Hospital and is in care,” said Neelkant Bakshi, a BJP leader said.
Over the past week, Tiwari has demanded a ban on the ban on Chhath Puja and has also started ‘Chhath Yatra’ to mobilize people with a ban.
Tiwari on Monday said that the AAP government must allow the Chhath Puja celebration in public places with a tight Covid protocol but should not prohibit festivals connected with people’s sentiment.
“Who said Coronavirus entered his eyes, nose, and mouth while at Chhath Puja, only naved the knee water and did not take a shower so there was no chance to spread when people celebrate festivals on the river, pond, etc.,” Tiwari said.
