Panaji: The Directorate of Education (DoE) has issued school management without circular assistance that does not raise their costs for the current academic year 2021-22.
This is the second year in a row that direction was issued due to a pandemic.
“Management of all elementary / secondary / higher schools in the state of the Goa is directed to maintain the round on August 11, 2021 and not to raise school fees for the current academic year 2021-22,” Bhushan Savaikar’s education director has said in a circle.
By 2020, DOE has given approval for the revised cost structure for schools without assistance for the 2020-21 academic year.
But this saw parents from various schools looking for concessions given their income affected by a pandemic.
This was led to issue another circle in July 2020 which stated that the increase in costs approved in May for school without assistance for 2020-21 was rolled back.
Then the education director of Vandana Rao said that to maintain equality, the government has decided not to allow a cost increase for 2020-21 and to roll back the permitted increase.
He said that several complaints were received from parents whose children studied at school without assistance, and that the Directorate discussed issues with parents and private school officials.
Following instructions by DOE, private schools also decided to delay payment of fees for parents based on cases-to-cases.
All Unaided School Associations recognized by the Goa Government also sought assistance from state governments which claimed that they quickly lost registration during a smaller private pandemic and a closing threshold.
