New Delhi: Delhi Government Transportation Department has tied the process of triggering low-floor and air-conditioned electric buses as part of the cluster scheme.
After issuing a 190 bus tender earlier this month, now has floated other tenders for 140 electric buses.
On October 1, the department has published demand for qualifications and proposals (RFQP) for induction of 450 floors low, air-conditioned and CNG-air-conditioned, and one day later, the tender for 190 electric buses floated.
Now, it comes with RFQP for 140 electric buses.
The Delhi government plans to induce 1,000 electric buses under the cluster scheme, regardless of more than 1,000 electric buses involved by Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC).
According to the RFQP document, the department has triggered 3,033 buses under the cluster scheme for the operation of the Private Carriage Stage service in Delhi.
The government’s goal in installing more buses is to provide a bus operation that is safe, safe, efficient, and reliable in Delhi, he said.
The DTC board recently approved the induction of 1,015 electric buses and 230 CNG-Run in the financial year 2021-22 at a meeting chaired by the Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot, who was also the DTC chairman.
The current DTC has a 3,762 bus fleet, where 2,644 is bought between 2007 and 2010 and approaches the “end of life”.
According to the procurement contract under the mission of the National Urban Update Nehru Jawaharlal, the age of this bus is 12 years or 7.5 KMS, which later.
To install it to the shortcomings and serve public transportation needs, the DTC has asked the state transportation authority to allow the bus to run for 15 years from the date of registration.
Apart from these buses, the DTC also involves 300 electric buses, which will be run and managed by operators to be paid operating costs per kilometer in the operating model (OPEX).
The operator will maintain the bus and provide the driver, while the DTC will go beyond the conductor and bear the costs of electricity consumption.
The new bus depot is also being built and some have existed to park electric buses, which include depots such as Rohini-I and II, Mundela Kalan, Burari, Place of Subhash, Mayapuri, Rajghat-II, Nagar Day, Sukhdev Vihar etc.
The government’s plan ultimately replaced all CNG-Run buses in the public transport fleet with electricity as part of the shift towards cleaner fuel.
