PANAJI: The report of the Crime Crime National (NCRB) bureau for 2020 has highlighted that sex trade in Goa is 1.1%, which is the highest (population per capita) in this country.
In an effort to reduce demand for commercial sexual activities, Goa Country Legal Services Authority (GSLSA), in collaboration with ARZ (Anyay Rahit Zindagi), organized a conscious program in Calangute Beach aimed at educating tourists and members of the hospitality industry.
“We have been actively involved in the rescue of girls and now even NCRB numbers show that the highest number of per capita populations has been registered in Goa by the police, despite a pandemic.
However, what is surprising is that the belief is zero,” said Arun Pandey, Director Arz .
According to the NCRB report in 2020, there were 17 cases of sex trade registered in Goa.
There are 30 saved girls and chargesheets submitted in 95.2% of cases.
The case that was released was only two and the case punished was zero.
“Therefore we need to talk about not only the girls who are traded, but also clients – especially those who are domestic tourists.
Hospitality Industry members know it but do not increase alarms or share information about the same thing.
Therefore we hold a conscious program at Calangute – somewhere, where according to our experience saved the girls who were traded, many girls were exploited, “Pandey said.
Carmel College students will hold road performance during the travel awareness, documentaries will be screened, and young people will be encouraged to speak on the drive that handles this problem.
In addition to urging tourists to refrain from being involved in crimes, GSLSA and ARZ will also appeal to the hospitality industry to avoid directly or indirectly by ending this crime.
They will travel a similar awareness on October 19 at Colva, Margao.
