Mumbai: Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) managed to plug in the main water line of Pali Reservoir without turning off the water supply in Bandra.
BMC takes 18 hours to attract leaks when officials work through the Dussehra Festival.
“There is a water pipeline of 600 mm in Mehboob studio near the reclamation bandra inlet from Pali’s reservoir.
Thousands of liters of water wasted due to large leaks in the water channel.
The BMC waterworks department starts the work of improvement immediately.
It’s hard to find leaking when water comes from all sides and there is a concrete road.
The leak detection team accurately detects 12 feet leaks with the help of modern equipment.
The repair department does excavation work, “said an BMC official.
“There is a high pressure cable network under the road.
The excavation work is done very carefully because the water leaks into this cable room.
To avoid danger, cables must be cut in several places and close to others.
During the Dussehra Festival, the water supply is not Disturbed in any way, the work is completed in 18 hours without interruption, keeping traffic smoothly, “the official said.
“When the water channel was found and checked, a large leak was observed at the bottom in two places.
After that, the leak was completely closed by applying welding and tailpiece steel patches.
