Kolkata: The meteorological department on Sunday said thick rainfall is likely to occur in West Bengal until October 20 because of the low pressure area above North Telangana and southeast wind from Bay Bay.
He advised fishermen not to explore the sea until Tuesday and warn the increase in water surfaces in the river, round in lowland areas and landslides in the Darjeeling and Kalimpong area due to rain.
Plants stand in fields, with rice almost ready to harvest in several districts of the country, can be broken, said Deputy Director of the Regional Meteorology Regional Sanjib Bandopadhyay.
Some of the southern districts of the country, including HOWRA, Hooghly and Medinipur Timur, have recently experienced flooding due to heavy rain and overflowing.
Bandopadhyay said the southern district of the country, including Kolkata, is likely to experience very heavy rainfall from Sunday.
The North Bengal District will experience an increase in rainfall from Monday, he said.
The meeting department said the rain, was caused by a low pressure area above North Telangana and strong southeast wind, the possibility of continuing until Wednesday.
Gusty winds with speeds reaching up to 40 to 50 km per hour will likely win 24 pargana and medinipur east and 30 to 40 km night above Kolkata, Nadia, Howrat, 24 North Pargana and West Medinipur Regency, he added.
