New Delhi: Fresh communal violence was reported in Bangladesh on Sunday when more than 20 Hindu houses were burned by a horde in Rangpur City.
According to the Chairman of the local Parishad Union, around 65 houses were burned during the attack.
The police said tensions erupted after several people alleged that a Hindu man posted a religious rude content on Facebook.
“The police reached the place as soon as the tension was installed and stood the guard around the young man’s house.
We can save the house but the attackers burned around 15 to 20 houses nearby,” said Police Supervisory Assistant MD Kamruzzaman to Dhaka TRIBUNE.
“Tension erupted there after Hindu youth allegedly posted an offensive status on Facebook.
The police secured his house after a viral post.
However, the attackers vent their anger in neighbors and burned 20 houses,” said the additional police supervisor to the media.
No one was injured during the attack and the situation was controlled, the report was added.
The incident occurred in Karimanj Pirganj upazila on Sunday night.
The fire service that the incident was reported around 9:50 a.m.
The fire department from Pirganj, Mithapukur and Rangpur City hurried to emit flames.
They were at the scene until 3am on Monday.
There are no direct reports of victims.
This violent incident came only a day after two Hindu men were killed in the midst of recent riots in this country.
Protests began on Wednesday after the footage appeared on social media “blasphemy incidents” during the celebration at the Puja Durga Pavilion in Cumilla, bordering Chandpur and about 100 km from Dhaka.
At least four people were killed on Wednesday when police fired a shot at the crowd of around 500 people who attacked Hindu temples in Hajiganj, one of several cities affected by interference.
The right-wing fremi wing Shashontantra Andolon on Saturday took the procession in downtown Dhaka against the image of the viral social media from Cumilla, said it was insulting the majority of the country’s Muslims.
The attackers beat and stabbed the death of the Temple Committee’s executive.
On Saturday morning, other Hindu male bodies were found near the pool, said Shahidul Islamic District Police Chief.
On Friday, violence broke out in the capital Dhaka and Chittagong, pushing the police to fire tear gas and rubber bullets on thousands of Muslim protesters who threw bricks.
Highspeed mobile internet services are turned off in clear efforts to prevent violence spread.
