Patna: About 2,000 police personnel, together with the ATS-SWAT and STF-QRTS team, will remain deployed in the country’s capital for three days to provide security protection to President RAM Nath Kovind, which reaches here on Wednesday to attend the Centenary Building Assembly celebration Bihar’s legislature on Thursday.
The speaker of the Assembly and Chief Secretary held several meeting rounds to review the arrangement, including security to the president, while living in the city.
IG (Central Range) Sanjay Singh said the Liaison meeting of face security (ASL) was held with SPG personnel for the President’s visit.
“On Tuesday, we managed to complete a real-time dry trip from the presidential convoy movement from the airport to Raj Bhavan and then to the assembly, Khadi Mall and Takht Sri Harmandir Ji Patna Sahib Gurdwara and also to Mahavir Mandir near Patna Junction,” he said .
Singh said at least 1500-1600 police and more than 300 to 400 officers and judges would remain deployed for the security of the President during Patna’s visit.
Ig said the state police headquarters had provided 1000 personnel to police patna.
The SWAT team (special weapons and tactics) of the anti-terrorism team (ATS) and the fast reaction team (QRT) Special Task Force (STF) will also be used at Vantage points and in standby mode for direct reactions.
A senior IPS officer, prefers anonymity, said the spread of SWAT ATS for the VVIP movement in the existing global scenario is mandatory practice.
“The SWAT team will not be involved in direct security settings for the President.
They will remain alert to be used as needed,” he said.
ADG (Operation) Sushil Mansingh Khopde said police Patna had asked STF QRTS, which was provided to be used as needed.
“QRTS will be ready to help the authority that manages overall security,” he said.
ADG (head office) Jitendra Singh Gangwar said all due to security settings in every place of programs and routes for the president had been made according to the blue book rules.
“All security related equipment needed, including vehicles, have been provided as needed.
Additional forces and senior police officers have also been provided,” he added.
