Gurugram: Rajiv Chowk Parking Contractor has been ordered to squeeze the exorbitant amount in parking fees from heavy vehicles after the truck driver allegedly issued Rs 41,800, police said on Monday.
Complaints submitted by Rajasthan Resident Abhay Singh Yadav, who supplied building materials to traders in Delhi-NCR and the surrounding area, at the Shivaji Nagar police station stated that the truck was confiscated for overloaded on October 1, said Yadav, he could not pay a penalty immediately And the vehicle is stored in the parking lot of Rajiv Chowk.
“When I went to get a truck the next day, the parking contractor asked me to pay Rs 39,600 as a fee,” Yadav said, added that he returned with a two day later but was told to pay Rs 41,800.
“When I asked how they calculated the costs, the contractor told me the truck had 22 tires and they had charged Rs 100 per tire per day.
They refused to show any documents that had told the accusation,” Yadav said.
He finally had to pay Rs 40,000 but did not issue a receipt, the word complainant.
Police spokesman Subhash Benken said a case was registered against the defendant, Devender Singh, under the IPC 384 section (extortion).
According to the agreement with district administration, the contractor should charge Rs 30, Rs 40, Rs 50 and Rs 100 for various vehicle sizes.
“Contractors, who violate the contract, collect Rs 100 per wheel from heavy vehicles,” Becky said, added that no arrests had been made so far.
