Beijing: Tires by the United States to stop China Telecom from operations in this country on national security issues are “evil oppression”, Beijing said Thursday, the warning will damage tentative disbursement in relationships.
High tensions between the two largest economies in the world on a large number of fronts, including trade, human rights, Taiwan and Pandemic Covid-19.
Earlier this week Washington ordered China Telecom Americas to stop the service within 60 days – ended almost 20 years of operation in the country and accumulated further pressure on super relationships.
The US Federal Communication Commission (FCC) said “Chinese telecommunications ownership and control by the Chinese government increases national security and significant law enforcement risks”.
But Beijing rejected the move as “the generalization of the concept of national security, abuse of national power and evil suppression of Chinese companies without basis”.
Shu Yuting Ministry of Trade spokesman told the press direction that China’s economic and trade team had “submitted a representation of Khakmat” with the United States and that Beijing was seriously worried about the ban.
The announcement came for hours after Chinese Vice Premier Liu and Freight Secretary Janet Yellen held a trading discussion through video calls that Beijing was described as “pragmatic, honest and constructive”.
But Shu said Thursday that the announcement of Washington had “damaged the atmosphere of cooperation” between sides.
The latest steps in the long-term standoff came when US President Joe Biden pressed forward with a hardline trade policy against Beijing widely in line with his predecessor Donald Trump, whose bombing approach sent tension.
China spokesman Telecom Ge Yu told AFP that FCC “disappointing” decision.
