JALANDHAR: Enforcement Directorate deputy manager Niranjan Singh, that probed a number of high profile cases such as the Bhola medication racket instance, had been served as an’post of credit’ (a charge-sheet restricted to support issues ) by his own section on Mondaythe day of his retirement in support.
For the past several decades, Niranjan was monitoring the money trail in one of Punjab’s largest drug haul instances.
He’d contested elderly Punjab politicians, such as Bikram Singh Majithia and Swaran Singh Phillaur, that had been cabinet ministers in the last SAD-BJP authorities, as a part of this notorious Bhola medicine racket.
The ED on Monday charged the officer for failing to keep ethics and devoting his position by encouraging Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh into his son’s 2016 marriage and paying only Rs two lakh, much beneath than his typical payments.
Singh had at that time been probing a Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) instance against Dosanjh.
ED was probing Niranjan to get’stunt lapses’“With his aforesaid action, Niranjan Singh the then assistant manager, directorate of authorities, Jalandhar neglected to maintain complete ethics, misused his place exhibited behavior unbecoming of a government contravened the terms of principles of the Central Civil Services (Conduct) Rules, 1964,” based on the’announcement of post charge’ against Niranjan.
Confirming to TOI he has been served the notice, Niranjan stated he would respond to it.
Niranjan stated he had been served the notice from the department and following question, he’d respond to it.
“It isn’t a charge-sheet however a note for question,” he explained.
“The ED began asking in 2016 along with also the payment (to Dosanjh) had been out of my own accounts.
They asked me and I’d told the question involving Dosanjh had been moved to some other officer annually prior to the union and they didn’t have a thing against me this time,” he explained.
