Thiruvananthapuram: The town company chosen vitrified flooring tiles along with mirror-finished marble rock to crucial items such as pipes and water distribution in today’s fish market at Palayam which makes it unusable with ways, in accordance with the report of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) in social and general sector that was tabled at the meeting on Tuesday.
The research points out lapses on the part of the company when building a contemporary fish market at Palayam.
According to the audit file, the marketplace was assembled without appropriate investigation and with no co-relating the layout with the needs of the sellers.
This led in non-utilization of this modern fish market that was assembled spending Rs 23 lakh.
The fundamental aspects like seats facility and vending distance were jeopardized and ultimately there was not adequate breadth between the tables and the distance was inadequate to get seating arrangement.
“While revising the quote, the company had deleted crucial items such as pipes functions, water distribution, and so on, and comprised nonessential items such as replacing ceramic using vitrified tiles for flooring, altering the surface of bass vending table out of kota rock to mirror completed marble rock, etc..
This resulted in a scenario in which the fish market had been finished without any provision for irrigation, water, and so on, that was crucial for regular hygienic operation and upkeep of the fish market,” the report stated.
In addition, it summarizes the lapse on the part of the executive scientist that, according to the analysis document, failed to confirm the true work completed prior to restarting the payment and also led to an overpayment of Rs 4.1 lakh to this contractor.
The research findings have been supported by the state authorities and it had been discovered that the quote was defective.
The builder had reimbursed an quantity of Rs 3.6 lakhs at 2018, after the state government’s leadership to the town organization.
The CAG commented that local self-government institutions can make sure that utilities being made are intended to satisfy the needs of end customers and the built utilities have all necessary amenities.
