Dehradun: A man and his 18-year-old daughter are among three tourists from Gujarat swept away by the waters of Ganges which are circling in the area of Lakshman Jhula in Rishikesh, police said on Tuesday.
Sonal is the first washed by the river while bathing on Monday night, they said.
His father was annealed and his mother’s grandmother Tarulata jumped into the river to save him but floated along the flow of violence, police said.
The police launched a search and rescue operation after being told about the incident by other family members who stood nearby when they occurred.
Tarulata’s body has been restored while the search is still alive for duo duo daughters, they said.
The victims were residents of Rajkot in Gujarat and came with other family members on the way to Rishikesh.
