JAIPUR: A 17-year-old woman from town was allegedly raped by her own tennis trainer around the pretext of making her tournaments to perform and being recognized as a participant.
The rape survivor has been trained at Sawai Man Singh Stadium.
The thing came to light following the parents observed a change in the little behavior and contested.
She broke her silence and informed her parents about her ordeal.
An instance of rape has been enrolled in the Jyoti Nagar police station on Monday under different sections of their Pocso Act and IPC.
The accused, identified as Gaurang Nalwaya, was also detained by the authorities on Tuesday afternoon.
The woman was chasing a career in the game and also the accused trainer, who had been coaching her, got near the survivor asserting her opportunities to perform in big tournaments.
The household was originally unaware and just became suspicious after discovering changes in the woman’s behavior.
“If the parents asked the woman, ” she narrated her situation and informed them that she had been raped repeatedly,” a police officer said.
“The accused allegedly raped the woman repeatedly.
Back in March 2021he chose her to Udaipur to the pretext of allowing her play at a championship and mistreated her.
A complaint was lodged by the family members and a case filed under different segments,” said deputy commissioner of police (south west ) Harendra Mahawar into TOI.
Asked when the section had received similar complaints regarding the trainer, ” a senior officer explained,”We’ve not got any other criticism.
However, when we do find a lot , we’ll include that too from the FIR.
That is a very clear violation of confidence as parents expect these trainers and send their kids to them for instruction,” explained Mahawar.
The accused has been taken into police custody at the afternoon and detained later, stated additional commissioner of police (crime) Ajay Pal Lamba.
(The victim’s identity has not been shown to shield her privacy according to Supreme court directives on cases related to sexual assault)
