Gurgaon: The Haryana State Pollution Control Board (HSPCB) installs two temporary noise level monitoring units in DLF Phase 2 and Sector 48 on Wednesday to check the pollution noise during Diwali.
According to environmental rules (protection), 1986, the noise level should not be more than 55 decibels in residential areas, 65 decibels in the commercial area and 75 decibels in the industrial area.
At night, the limit is 45 decibels in residential areas, 55 decibels in the commercial area and 70 decibels in the industrial area.
HSPCB officials said that the unit would help them take steps to curb pollution during Diwali.
“This year, we have installed temporary monitoring stations to record noise levels before and during Diwali.
We have recorded noise levels in DLF Phase 2 and Sector 48 on October 29 and will record the noise level in the same area in 4.

However, experts about the quality of noise argue that monitoring noise while during Diwali is not a long-term solution to check pollution in the city.
