Thiruvananthapuram: Bus service from Kerala State Road Transport Transport Corporation is disrupted throughout the state on Friday as various trade unions calls for a 24-hour strike from the revised midnight payment.
Although not forced by the state government, employees attached to the association of the Kerala State Road Transportation Employees (KSRTEA) and Kerala Sangh State Transport employees (KSTES) advanced with strikes, which resulted in stopping the bus and stranding of the people at the bus station.
Lay people, especially those who only depend on public transportation, are the worst hits.
Bus services are expected to be affected tomorrow as a trade union attached to the Indian National Trade Union Congress and the Indonesian Trade Union Congress (AITUC) calling for a strike for 48 hours.
Hundreds of corporate employees managed by the state decided to go on the agitation path after their conversation was related to the revised payment with the Minister of Transportation Antony Raju failed earlier this week.
When the union demanded the implementation of revised payments immediately, which had matured for the past nine years, the government sought more time as expected to cost additional RS 30 Crore additional.
Raju said the general public would not accept attacks, which had disrupted their normal life.
“Such agitation, which makes the life of ordinary people difficult and puts the government under pressure, is not acceptable.
The government can seriously consider KSRTC as an important service,” he told reporters here.
