LONDON: The Chelsea Premier League leader was held with a 1-1 draw with Burnley struggling after substitute for visitors Matej Vydra struck blue at the end of the match to cancel the opening of Kai Havertz on Saturday.
The results left Chelsea on 26 points from 11 matches, three more than Manchester City who were in second place to beat Manchester United 2-0 in their lunch derby.
Burnley stayed 18 at eight points.
Goalkeeper Nick Pope made Burnley float from an early age when he denied Callum Hudson-Odoi and Jorginho but was helpless in the 33rd minute when Reece James and German forward Havertz were combined with a devastating effect.
James found a room on the right side and delivered the only cross to Havertz to go low to a far corner from eight meters past the Pope, which remained rooted in the line.
Chelsea continued to press after the break when Tajuk Thiago Silva shaved the outside of the office before Havertz Lofed, a close-range shot above the bar and the Pope blocked Hudson-odoi’s efforts with reflex deposits.
The longing was proven expensive when Burnley was leveled after their first meaning attack, with Ashley Westwood swinging in a tempting cross that Jay Rodriguez nodded down for Vydra to knock from close range in the 79th minute.
