Patna: Twelve more captured people in connection with the Hooch Gopalganj tragedy where the death toll was installed until 21 on Saturday.
However, Gopalganj SP Anand Kumar only confirmed 13 deaths so far.
He told TII by telephone that postmortem from all 13 Mohammadpur villagers under the same police station have been carried out.
The source of Gopalganj said the authorities did not count the deceased whose body had been cremated without telling the police.
SP said 30 people had been arrested and the police took at least 390 liters of liquor from different police station areas in constant hard action on liquor smugglers so far.
Officially, ManoRanjan Singh and Raj Kumar Mishra from Mohammadpur died on Friday night.
The source said some people whose names were not in the ‘official’ list of the deceased, were those who consumed liquor in Mohammadpur and went to a different place.
SP said postmortem examination was carried out on even those whose family members initially said they had several types of diseases.
“Things will be cleaned from postmortem and forensic reports,” he said.
He said at least 30 bags of liquor recovered from two houses in Mohammadpur where they had consumed it, sent for forensic analysis on Saturday after the court order.
Kumar said senior police officers in this district, including him, held a meeting with Chowkidars in all districts after calling them in Thawe.
“More than 550 chowkidars have gathered yesterday.
They are sensitive to the collection of intelligence on smuggling of liquor and those involved in it.
They are also sensitive about the type of action they need to take to avoid Hooch’s incident,” he said.
Kumar said more meetings were held with the Chowkidars group at various police stations on Saturday.
