Lucknow: Eight people, including five from Bihar, were arrested by Force Protection (RPF) Burhwal to steal diesel from a locomotive machine placed at the Barabaura train station.
The arrest came after FIR was filed at the Post RPF at the Burhwal on November 2, about the theft of 1000 liters of high-speed diesel (HSD) used for train locomotive machines.
“HSD worth RS 95,800 was stolen from the WDG-4G Roza 49128 — Diesel-electric locomotive transport-cabin-cabin, which was parked on the line of four Bordaura stations,” RPF said.
“The modus operandi from the gang is simple.
They used to imitate HSD at the remote stations at night.
After breaking the filter mesh from the Loco fuel tank with a wooden stick, the gang uses a length of 15-20 meters long.
The pipe into it can be placed In the nearest bushes to avoid suspicion.
HSD is suspected then sold to local retailers or truck drivers for RS 15-20 cheaper than market rates, “RPF said.
RPF added, “During the interrogation, the leader of the Dilip Sahni gang claimed that he began diesel fuel from Motihari, Bihar Way returned in 2007 and then fled to Karnataka , and Varanasi.
We are still investigating to ascertain whether the train employees have helped the gang in crime.
“The arrest accusations were identified as Dilip Sahni, Horil Sahni, Akhilesh Sahni, Yogendra Sahni, Lallan Sahni.
All comes from the Motihari district.
Another accused of being Mahabali from Barabanki and Phoolchand Chauhan and Santosh Mishra from the Gonda District.
Three remaining defendants including Sahni Mukesh, Raju Sahni and Manoj Sahni who came from Motihari were still running away.
RPF has recovered 22 gallons (660 liters) Diesel worth Rs 63000 and other items.
